Fresh produce in the top 10
Around
50 years ago, a small shed was the birthplace of the huge vegetable processing
company that Heemskerk has become today. In 2011, Heemskerk is one of the top 10
largest vegetable processing companies in Europe. And naturally, this is not
growth that has happened overnight.Heemskerk processes vegetables in Rijnsburg and employs approximately 500 staff responsible for processing around 60 types of vegetable into as many as 300 different end products each and every day. We also use products such as cheese, ham and eggs in these processes. In 2005, a total of 100 million fresh products found their way to well-known supermarkets, fast-food restaurants and catering firms in the Netherlands and abroad. This works out at an average of over 1.8 million products per week. Almost all of them sold under private label. There is therefore a very good chance that you could be eating a Heemskerk product.
Our market is constantly changing and offers many opportunities. Our workforce, facilities and drive for innovation will ensure that our future growth remains healthy.
Healthy growth, what is that?
The business ethic of Heemskerk is as simple as it is effective: by providing the constant top quality that our customers want, we keep them happy. And by doing so we intend to maintain our position in the top 10 in Europe and even improve on that.
Growth requires investment. That might mean investment in new techniques to make the quality of the end product even better. Or to create a new product on our own initiative or at the request of a customer. But we also give our workforce every opportunity to develop their talents to become genuine specialists. Working according to strict procedures to guarantee food safety.
Our production space extends over 18,000 m², giving us a production capacity of 3 million packages per week.
